We started in new zealand and were there for about 10 days, we arrived in Auckland on Jan 3 (after about 25 hours of travelling) and promptly hopped onto a 4 hour bus to take us up to Paihia in the Bay of Islands in the Far North. It was sunny for one day out of 3, but we still enjoyed kayaking (tipped over) and a boat cruise in which we spotted lots of dolphins! then we made our way to Lake Taupo and then down to Queenstown on the South Island (our favorite). Our main tour in Queenstown was to Milford Sound, which was awesome, we saw dolphins again and a group of seals laying around on a rock! We wanted to do a lord of the rings tour but instead chose to do our own hike up to the gondola in town (we're cheap!) and had enough hiking after about an hour or so. All in all, New Zealand is super nice with beautiful scenery, but really expensive and there are a lot of old people. Which is fine, but not when they're staying with you in your hostel dorm!
